Brisbane Highlands Circuit Race
Cat. 3
When we got to the venue I got registered and rode around the outside of the course to warm up.
Brisbane is an up and down 1.7 mile circuit, with no flat part... I really liked the look of the up hill finish.
I didn't want to just sit in and sprint at the end. During the race I pulled for a bit. With a few laps to go someone attacked. No one wanted to do anything about it and she had a team bocking people from bridging up to her. But I wanted to bring her back so I went trying to bring her back. The gap was getting smaller and when we came to the bottom of the climb I put it in and bridged up to her, bringing the pack with me.
I was feeling satisfied with what I had done in the race. I didn't know if I would still have a sprint in the end. I was still going to try though. I knew where I had to be and where my sprinting spot was. Coming up to the finish it was five across. I haven't been in a race when it was like that before. But I was all the way on the left side(the outside). I was looking and I wasn't very happy with being there because, what I thought would happen was the people in the inside would go first. I don't know why it just seemed like the most likely thing. I didn't have time to move though. I was right and the two inside riders went first, I jumped and came around the people in front of me to be with the riders that went. I could see my light pole and when it came I stood and went. I could see one rider out the corner of my eye( Anne Fulton - Alto Velo). She stayed in the corner on my eye and I came across the line first.
I had such a fun time, it was definitely my kind of race.
