Two Peanut Butter & Co.TWENTY12 riders selected for Worlds

Lauren Tamayo and Shelley Evans were selected to represent USA in the upcoming UCI track World Championships in Copenhagen. Evans has seen the podium in her last 3 World Cups and Tamayo scored a silver medal in the team pursuit at the Columbia World Cup.
"I am excited about the opportunity to race Worlds this year. The track has been a change in focus for me this winter, so it is great when plans fall into place. We have an amazing team going to Denmark this year, so hopefully some medals will follow. " Remarked Tamayo.
The duo will be attending USA Cycling track camp in Carson, with Tour of Murrieta in between.

Weekly Round-Up

Photo: Shelley and Fuji D-6
by Rob Evans

San Francisco, CA - February 2010.
What a week....
The riders of Peanut Butter & Co.TWENTY12 have opened the season with outstanding results. Shelley Evans had a breakthrough international race at the Tour of New Zealand. Evans won an amazing four stages and was 2nd to team mate Amber Neben in the time trial and took a 5th in stage 3, securing the overall from 2nd place Neben. Team USA did a fantastic job of supporting Evans day after day. While very familiar to the track podium, having won medals in the last 3 UCI Track World Cups, this is Shelley's first international win on the road.

Prior to New Zealand The Ladies Tour of Qatar saw Lauren Tamayo on the podium and a 5th place GC with the help of 3 of her TWENTY12 teammates, Shelley Evans, Sinead Miller and Katharine Carroll. Tamayo scored a silver medal at the UCI Track World Cup in Colombia in team pursuit with Hammer & Bausch. Tamayo just returned from a week long team pursuit training camp at the UCI Center in Switzerland. Both Evans and Tamayo are waiting on selection for Track World Championships.

Newcomer and Utah resident, Alisha Welsh, took top honors at Callville Bay Classic winning the time trial followed by top ten in road and criterium events which secured 1st in the General Classification. Alisha will join the team for San Dimas before heading to Europe.

Nineteen-year-old Sinead Miller won both the road race and criterium in her first collegiate races of the season. She will join Alisha in Europe. Sixteen-year-old Ruth Winder took a comfortable win at Snelling Cat 3 road race and has now upgraded to cat 2 and will race the rest of the season with the elite squad. Junior rider Nikka Van Den Dries was 2nd at Snelling Road Race.

Evans, Tamayo and Rivera will race The Tour of Murrieta to compliment the USAC track camp schedule.

Mara Abbott will be making her team debut along with Katharine Carroll, Alisha Welsh and two of the future stars of U.S cycling, 17 year old Coryn Rivera and 16 year old Ruth Winder at San Dimas and Redlands, both races added to our calendar after the cancellation of Etrusca. The squad for these races couples experience with youth, giving the younger riders the opportunity to race with the best riders in the U.S.

With momentum building, the riders are all motivated to race. This is going to be a strong year for the Peanut Butter & Co.TWENTY12 team and for USA women. With Olympic Gold Medalist, Kristin Armstrong directing the TWENTY12 team and Manel Lacambra directing the National Team, our riders could not be in better hands. A combination of experience, professionalism and passion describe these two directors. After only a couple of weeks of competition the heat is on and the squad is on track with team and individual goals.
